Thank you for a beautiful post. I long ago gave up the native vs non native species thinking. I was firmly in the native species at all costs camp but I came to see all Nature is pervaded by the same energy. All life wants to live and it’s this cultures arrogance that thinks it has the right to dictate otherwise.
This Universe will still go on long after our disastrous culture has vanished.
I was recently Googling the Koppen Climate Classification system. I was surprised to see that the geographers who work on and maintain that system now have an accompanying world map of how "Global Warming" (or "Climate Change" however one wishes to characterize it) will alter the climate around the world in the coming years.
It is one thing to hear about the changes in a sort of hypothetical way but to actually see the vast changes expected to occur on a map of the world is quite striking. And disturbing.
Lovely stuff! I saw milkmaids last year on the Azalea Nature Trail at Stagecoach Hill by Big Lagoon south of Orick. First time I’d ever seen them. They’re sweet.
All of this is amazing, but that polypore fungus made my jaw drop!

Lovely photo post with some wildflowers I don’t get to see often. I was glad to see that the dam removal project is happening too. Thanks Kollibri!
Love your photos and their stories! Thx
