Thanks for the shout out my friend. I am honored to be numbered among such exceptional human beings that work in service of life, giving back to the living Earth and offering a diverse array of scalable and decentralized solutions to many challenges we face as human beings.
Akiva does not have a substack but I would also list him among the people that are offering empowering info pertaining to a "Beyond a carbon-exclusive climate focus" through his book and practical youtube videos.
I do not share all of Charles' views but he does offer some potent insight relating to the ripple effects of seemingly small acts of kindness, courage and compassion and has a way with words in how he frames the environmental issues of our times.
Thanks for introducing me to so many great writers, activists and Earth loving people in the post above.
I have not read either of those books, thank you for the recommendations! I have read some Eisenstein, but not this essay, which I have opened up and started and can see that I will definitely appreciate. I don't read him regularly because he's made me roll my eyes a few times. Can't remember why, but I do know other people who appreciate him too.
So agree! Charles Eisenstein's book 'Climate: a New Story', is definitely worth reading ...written in 2018 it discusses climate way beyond carbon... and yes he has a way with words.
Nice to be on the list :) Excited to see the number of 'not just carbon impacts climate' Substack Newsletters grow this year. Shows there's a movement happening. It helps to reach a wider audience as more people write about it.
Kollibri, Knowing you are from the area, thought you might like to see this Substack post about our recent storms. Don't miss the video toward the bottom.
You're very welcome, James! Birds are so important, besides being beautiful and fascinating, and they're a life form that nearly everyone gets to see on a daily basis, so they're a great way of reconnecting with nature.
Absolutely they are, Kollibri! Accessible portals to the wonders to be found in nature. They’re right there, but also foster an appreciation of the there.
Wow. A little speechless that you included my humble stack amongst so many incredible environmental/Mother Earth warriors. Super appreciative. And appreciate your content and writing as well. Here’s to a brilliant New Year awakening more and more humans from the dominant culture induced slumber. ❤️
Three cheers for awakening!! Yes I really hope that for the new year too!
I includes you on this list because you have a particular approach and perspective that nobody else on the list has, which I greatly value and really feel is needed for a decent big picture view. Blessings in the new year!
Thanks for this list, Kollibri. I’ve known about you since the Woodleys told me about your work with them, and even gave me a copy of your book. Glad to see you writing in here.
Thanks so much for recommending Hopecology to your subscribers. I am so enjoying watching your Substack community grow, and topics near and dear to my (unpopularly opinioned) heart get some big airtime with you.

Have you read that book called Trees Of Power by Akiva Silver (that I mentioned in my Shagbark Hickory Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8Oav-s-FSs) ?
Akiva does not have a substack but I would also list him among the people that are offering empowering info pertaining to a "Beyond a carbon-exclusive climate focus" through his book and practical youtube videos.
Charles Eisenstein also broaches the subject in a book (more info here: https://charleseisenstein.org/books/climate-a-new-story/ ) and he posted this on substack:
https://charleseisenstein.substack.com/p/how-the-environmental-movement-can
Have you read either of those?

I am definitely psyched to see more people question the carbon-exclusive narrative. Thanks for your great work!
Fabulous list! Some favorites and some new to me. Thanks!
You're welcome!
So helpful, thanks!
