Part of my mission here at “Speaking for the Trees, No Matter Where They’re From” is to inspire appreciation for the beauty of Mother Nature, with the hope that people will be moved to help defend her from the many threats she faces.
My subjects are mostly plants, insects, animals, mushrooms and landscapes, with some farm photos thrown in. I have a particular emphasis on macro photography because the camera I was gifted is specially designed for that. (It’s an Olympus “Tough” which also works underwater!)
As a celebration of the Winter Solstice, here are all the photo posts I uploaded to Substack in 2024. I started the year in Humboldt County on the Siskyou County line, housesitting a friend’s cabin, which was fun. Then I lived/worked on a farm in Sonoma County, which was disastrous. I was then welcomed on the Western Slope of Colorado for the second half of the summer, which was great. I ended the calendar year in the Gila, in southwestern New Mexico, which is a nice winter spot. I tried to capture something of the essence of each place through the viewfinder.
You’re also invited to check out my observations on iNaturalist, where I confirm a lot of IDs.
Enjoy!
Absolutely beautiful. Love the photos of all of the life that is present everywhere we take the time to notice. Thank you for sharing your words and the world through your eyes. ❤️
You have a lot of skills with the shutter!
