I listened to this article as I drove from Eugene to Salem on the 5, witnessing with my eyes as you stated, “no corner is untouched, no relationship is unaffected, and nothing is “pristine.”” It was fun and sad to imagine what it was like many years ago prior to the Columbian invasion.

What a wonderful read about the valley I call home. It is a bit heartbreaking to think of the degradation of this Willamette Valley over the years.

There is one Oregon success story worth telling and that is the removal of the dams on the Klamath River. Native Americans worked tirelessly to accomplish the task and salmon are already returning.
